Gaming Technician/Installer

Gaming Technician/Installer 

Summary: Installs equipment in designated locations in a safe and courteous manner and in accordance with established standards and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Delivering on company goals and objectives.
  • Perform preparations for sales and repairs on VGT’s (Video Gaming Terminals) keeping in accordance with the Illinois Gaming Board and company standards.
  • Ensure proper operations of the VGT’s via diagnostic tests, software settings, and functional testing.
  • Install/Service Light & Wonder equipment in accordance with customer and company specifications on-site at Gaming Establishments throughout the state.
  • Adhere to established workmanship standards, policies, and procedures of field service.
  • Perform rebuild and repairs of customer equipment brought into the service department.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work environment (customer site, office/workshop, etc.).
  • Follow proper safety procedures (vehicle safety, loading games, ladder use, and electricity).
  • Ensures all tools and equipment used by the employee are kept in proper, safe, and working condition.
  • Communicate effectively through all forms of writing, i.e. reports, logs, email.
  • Seek out information to become proficient in updates to the product line.
  • Review customer issues with management and other technicians to find patterns in failures or solutions.
  • Eventually perform troubleshooting and assistance thought the Betson VGT service Hotline.
  • Occasional loading and unloading of gaming equipment between truck and staging areas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: 

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain gaming licenses as required.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs. on a regular basis for short distances.
  • Previous experience in Amusement service preferred, but not required.
  • Transport heavy equipment using proper moving devices.
  • Demonstrate safe and proper use of hand tools and power tools.
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of PC operation, and security risks relating to PC operation.
  • Demonstrate basic Microsoft Office skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point).
  • Ability to read and understand Light & Wonder schematics and service manuals.
  • With limited or no supervision, be able to prepare conversion projects or installations.
  • Ability to maintain good customer relations, both internally and externally.
  • Basic knowledge of electricity, electronics, and mechanics of gaming type devices.
  • Basic knowledge of current Light & Wonder gaming devices to the assembly level.
  • Basic understanding of network communication, and network troubleshooting.
  • Ability to perform basic troubleshooting techniques in isolating and correcting problems down to an assembly level.
  • Ability to work with others to accomplish business objectives.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral).
  • Good customer service skills.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Potential travel requirements may include overnight stays.
