Credit Manager

Summary: The Credit Manager is responsible for overseeing the credit granting process, assessing the creditworthiness of customers and managing the organization’s overall credit risk. They monitor customer accounts to ensure timely payments and develop strategies to minimize bad debt and optimize cash flow.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates the credit approval process, encompassing tasks such as processing credit applications and initiating investigations into customer’s bank and trade references.
  • Evaluates the creditworthiness of potential and existing customers, including the establishment of payment terms and credit limits.
  • Assesses customer credit eligibility for internal financing and leasing initiatives, while also overseeing the preparation of leasing and loan documentation and managing collections.
  • Monitors credit risk associated with customer accounts and reviews aging reports, coordinating the collection of past-due amounts.
  • Proficiently handles challenging and delicate collection calls with customers, ensuring professionalism and effectiveness.
  • Collaborates with relevant personnel and managers to exchange information, resolve customer issues and disputes and maintain accurate records.
  • Partners closely with sales teams to facilitate the successful closure of deals with customers.
  • Executes cash application processes, generates pro forma invoices, conducts credit card transactions, and performs other duties related to customer accounts and receivables management.
  • Coordinates with customer service department to follow-up on customer short pays or billing disputes.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent preferred; preferred areas of study include accounting, finance, business, economics, or similar fields.
  • 2 or more years of experience in accounts receivable and collections.
  • Experience with assessment of credit risk, financial underwriting preferred.
  • Ability to work with all levels of management.
  • Ability to thrive in a hectic, fast-paced, and rapidly changing environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, which include over the phone and in face-to-face interactions. Exceptionally strong quantitative skills.
  • Ability to manage priorities and workflow.
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
  • Strong customer service focus.
  • Must have good skills in Microsoft Office applications including strong proficiency with MS Word & Excel.
